The project

Join our volunteer program in Tanzania and be part of empowering women through skills training initiatives. From our community hub in Arusha, you’ll work in collaboration with local community members on handcrafted projects and eco-friendly fashion practices.  Together, we aim to create employment opportunities, elevate living standards and create positive long-term change within the community.

The program

This women’s empowerment program has been designed with the clear goal of enhancing the lives of community members through handicraft skills and entrepreneurship. Whether your strengths lie in marketing, business management or product development, your skills can make a meaningful impact. As a volunteer, you’ll play a role in empowering local women through sustainable skills training.

Your contribution

No specialised skills are required – just bring your passion for creating a lasting positive impact. Take part in various activities, like graphic design, online courses, social media management, product design, and even weaving skills. You might find yourself managing orders, planning exhibitions or getting creative with leftover fabrics. There are also opportunities in sales, marketing, web design and even occasional construction projects. Your creativity and motivation are highly valued, and work hours are flexible, tailored to your level of engagement.

Location

You’ll be based in Arusha, a vibrant town in the northern highlands of Tanzania. Arusha is a blend of old and new, making it a great place to explore. Take a stroll through the local markets for unique finds and experience the Maasai culture through their crafts and activities. And make sure to try the delicious Tanzanian food while you’re here. Arusha promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Tanzanian life, and you’re invited to soak it all in.

Typical day

Shape your workday around your interests and expertise. Begin with a morning discussion with your supervisor to plan the day’s tasks. While the main focus is on office work, you’ll have ample time to immerse yourself in traditional crafts like weaving and jewellery making. Connect with colleagues to gain insights into the challenges faced by Tanzanian society. Plus, enjoy the flexibility of independent travel, making a meaningful impact while having plenty of free time to explore within your budget.

Free time

Get ready for exciting downtime adventures! Imagine exploring hidden waterfalls and lush forests, or relaxing in hot springs with Mount Kilimanjaro views. Explore the coffee scene, understanding the bean-to-brew process at a plantation. Immerse yourself in vibrant culture with Maasai market tours. For extra thrills, go on safaris in top-notch national parks like Arusha, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Feeling extra adventurous? Climb both Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. Your free time is all about making unforgettable memories!
